Welcome to a very exciting blog hop in Celebration of 10 years of Art from the Heart!
Lots of exciting things are happening at Art from the Heart next weekend where the big birthday bash is happening. Want to know more... then please click here.
So in celebration we are having 5 birthday blog hops. You should have reached my blog from Dyan's blog and you are on the Ranger hop!
Here is my project: I wanted to make something that looked like a garden party as it still summer- just and I was inspired by Dy's celebration button above!
I am a massive Wendy Vecchi fan. Fact. And when I was told I was to be in the Ranger team and could use any of Ranger's products it was a bit of a no-brainer as to what I'd choose! I used pretty much a whole packet of florals, a cake stand, 2 leaves and a little
Clearly for Art! The cake stand was covered in paper (I did cheat here and used a little paper from Graphic 45 (I hope no one notices!) and then covered it with Peeled Paint Distress Stain and Peeled Paint Distress Ink on the edges. I have a confession in that I am
utterly obsessed with Distress Stains and, as you'll see, they are pretty much all I have used to make this project! The flowers were all covered in Distress Stains and I made sure I did the front and back as this is very much a 3D piece to be viewed from lots of angles!
The largest flower was coloured with spiced Marmalade and edged in the same colour ink, and then stamped in the ink. Then I cut out a flower from Clearly for Art, stamped the same dotty stamp with Coffee Archival Ink and heated it so it went curly (this is such fun - if you never tried it you really should!) The centre is all I have left after "she who eats art" ate this.
The red flower is Barn Door, much as before but I used Wendy's background stamp from the Celestial Art set. The centre is a bingo counter covered in Vintage Photo Distress Stain, sanded, painted lightly with Snowcap Paint Dabber and then a little Barn Door Distress Stain.
The purple flower is Dusty Concord Distress Stain with a little gold Mica powder over the top. Then for the centre I covered a flower with a little Purple Twilight and Gold Paint Dabber and then scratched some off when it was dry. The centre is a Hitch Fastener.
The yellow flower is inked with Mustard Seed, a small wooden star was covered in the "illegal" paper and glued with an inking of Mustard Seed.
The white daisy (my favourite) is covered in Picket Fence Distress Stain with a little Wild Honey and Mustard Seed Distress Stains in the centre. The stalks and bobbins were coloured with various Distress Stains (Peeled Paint, Crushed Olive and Shabby Shutters)
I cut two of each type of Wendy's butterfly stamps out of Grungepaper (stamped with Jet Black Archival Ink) and painted and blended them with various Distress Stains (Peeled Paint, Worn Lipstick, Mustard Seed, Barn Door, Broken China, Dusty Concord).
The big leaves at the back were covered in Peeled Paint Distress Ink, edges and stamped in Peeled Paint Distress Ink.
The bird is from Tim's Caged Bird die. I covered both sides of Grungepaper with scraps of Tim's paper and cut the bird and wing out and covered them in Broken China Distress Stain and edged in Broken China Distress Ink. The banner wording was printed from my computer (Travelling Typewriter font) and then die cut using Tim's Tattered Banner die. It was then inked with Pumice Stone Distress Stain and edged in Vintage Photo Distress Ink. I hope this looks like a garden party!

Before you move on - you will need to collect a letter from me which is pictured on the left. This is part of an anagram of a Ranger product. Once you get back to Dy's blog please email your answer to Ben.
So, if you'd be kind enough to leave me a comment you need to move on to Angela!
This is a pretty awe inspiring team to have worked on - if you don't know already there are some amazing people's blogs you'll be hopping to next (personal crafting heroes of mine!) and I would like to thank Dy, Janet and the team for having me along!
Have fun hopping! Gabrielle x
