Super exciting newness!

I have been nurturing a little secret! The rather lovely and fabulously talented Lin Brown asked if I would like to play with some of her new stamps - released on the PaperArtsy blog tonight - it really wasn't a difficult question! There is a video to accompany this release - it's well worth a watch!

I was asked to use following paints and to use the sunflower stamp set... so inspiration struck!
The paints I used were:
Caribbean Sea, Tangerine Twist, Banana and Bougainvillea (Lin's limited edition set)
Limelight
Hey Pesto
Tango
Zest Zing
Snowflake
I wanted to use the sunflower stamp as it appeared on the contact sheet (there's a project below where I started to use it differently - and more ways still to come!) The stalk is painted on tissue paper and the flower is stamped on two pieces of book paper; one was adhered to some Clearly for Art so I could mould it into a 3D flower.
I debated whether to add anything to the centre but I couldn't cover up the text and so opted to leave it plain.
For my second project I wanted to see how the sunflower might look in pink (especially as Bougainvillea is such an amazing colour!) so I brayered lots of thin layers of Bougainvillea and Tangerine Twist paint to a piece of cream card and then stamped the flower on it. I has a warmth to it that I really like - I think I'll experiment with this again!
Having opted to leave the centre plain on the first one, I made a centre by adhering lots of accent beads (the remaining ones are now all over my studio - I mean all over!) and then dyeing them black. The stalk was painted on cream card and I left the leaves so that they could be moulded.
For my final piece for tonight I snuck in some tulips from another of Lin's fabulous new stamp sets. The journal page uses the sunflower but I cut some of the petals off so that it looks like a different flower. All of the images were stamped on tissue paper and painted on the reverse and front so that a depth of colour is reached.

Thank you for sticking with me through this long post and a HUGE thanks to Lin for asking me to play with her new stamps - they are truly lovely and I have lots more ideas for them and hope to share them over the next few weeks!

Beautiful samples Gabrielle! Aren't the stamps stunning? I cannot possibly pick a favourite from your lovely designs as each has something a bit different that I love. Clever change to the sunflower on your journal page!
