Happy New Year! I hope 2015 is YOUR year and that it brings you nothing but good fortune! Over at Country View Crafts Challenges the theme this month is ... Something new to you! I thought this was a great idea for a challenge because you could use any crafty stash you might have had for Christmas or perhaps try a technique that you fancied but never actually had a go at.
For my project I made a journal page (nothing new there!) but used a die cut from my new Big Shot that Santa bought me. Confession time! I did have a Vagabond that, like many of you, was swopped by Sizzix more times than I care to mention. However, back in October I tried to fit a 'sandwich' that was far too thick through it and broke it! So Santa, knowing my somewhat self inflicted and embarrassing plight was incredibly kind and bought me a Big Shot in the hope that it might be harder to break!
I also had a go at a new technique - writing with a dip pen and ink. This was also a Christmas present and needs a lot of practice! I also need to learn to write in straight lines! I quite like that there is a record of my first ever time using the pen, and that it's not perfect!  I added some drops of ink randomly on the page because I was reluctant to put the pen away as I enjoyed it so much!
I hope you join in with us this month and show us something new!

As ever I love your journal page- and your first go at dip pen writing was much more successful than mine - no blobs for a start!! Happy New Year, Gabrielle - hope to see you soon! xx

Ooh - lovely dip pen writing - if that's for starters, I can't wait to see what happens when you've had some practice! Fabulous page...

I've only ever had a BigShot and I love it. Hope yours outlasts the Vagabond (though from everything I've heard it will definitely do that!).

Happy 2015!
Alison xx
