A Tin of Roses

I have been so inspired by my fellow Creative Expressions DT member Kim's recent projects involving Sardine Tins that I braved my aversion to all things fishy and bought a tin of sardines just for the tin! The answer of what to do with contents was easily solved when SWEA smelled the contents! I washed the tin very thoroughly and allowed it to dry. I then used a green acrylic paint and painted the tin very roughly. I really like the blue showing through but you could paint a couple of coats and easily cover the tin. I then cut a piece of card for the background and used blue inks and a little more green paint to make the background.
The rose was die cut from white card using a Heartfelt Belle Rose Die and then I took the corresponding stamp from the Heartfelt Bold Bella Rose stamp set and used Sunset Orange, Cranberry and Citrus Adirondack Pigment Inks. I love to make these inks give a watercolour effect by keeping the stamp on the desk, adding the colours where you choose, lightly sprtizing the stamp with water and then putting the paper on top of the stamp (instead of the stamp to the paper). I love how the colours run into one another creating new colours and contrasts. When dry, I adhered the rose to the background.
I printed the sentiments from my computer and edged them in Vintage Photo Distress Ink (of course!) and added them to the tin. I wanted  to continue the garden theme by adding a fence to the front of my tin. I die cut the fence and painted it with a white paint and added Vintage Photo Distress inks to the edges. I love the shabby feel of this rose - and it has got me started on Mother's Day projects... more of that another day!!!

This is lovely, and made out of sardine tin. It has gone into the memory bank, as may steal it from you at some point in future! Xx

You are welcome,Gabrielle. I did not have to think twice about nominating you. Your work is completely different to mine but I absolutely adore what you can make. I adore everything and every element you use and this last creation is no exception.

Thats so lovely! I can't stand the smell of sardines, so I won't be buying a can to try this idea, but it is a great idea.
