Mens Tag

Ah! Mens cards... always tricky! This was the tag/card I made for a friend. I tried to keep it simple as often I find men aren't quite as pleased with handmade items as my female friends are! The background is made with Distress Inks and the chap is Tissue Wrap glued to white card sprayed with Dylusions. Hopefully this is something that might spark an idea for you... if it does, do share it!

Hello friend

I'm really taken with the idea of creating images with a background running behind it. It is really effective, fun to do and really easy! If I can do it one handed then it needs to be all three! So to create the 'top' image I made the background by spraying a tag with pink Dylusion inks. Then I laid the solid part of the mask over the top and sprayed White Linen through it. When dry I drew the outline round the central image with the cut out part of the mask. I then flipped the mask and drew the ladies looking the other way so that the figures remained 'behind' the central figure. Then I drew wiggly lines behind all three images, bringing them even more to the fore. I've become quite taken with single layer images!

Butterfly Mind

This tag came from having spent the last few weeks recuperating and struggling at times to concentrate on any task for long enough to finish it! I'm also very easily distracted - just ask my sister how difficult it can be to keep track of me when we're shopping!!!
I used my Su stamp and lots of Wendy Vecchi butterflies! I am really pleased with how I managed to depict my butterfly mind! It made me chuckle to see it in real life!

A Charming Woman

For my second piece this month for Country View Crafts challenge blog I used a quotation from Loretta Young as my starting point. I used Dylusions Bubblegum Pink and Funky Fuchsia inks for the background and then, when dry, through a stencil. The people are also from the Dylusions range and the focus lady was 'bleached' out using a water brush filled with water. I like how the diamonds from the background still show through! The stamps are Dylusions stamps and the arrow is from the mover and shapers range cut using black card. The quotation is stamped using individual alphabet stamps - took ages one handed!!! I hope you've joined in with us, if you haven't there's still time!!!

Nature, time and orange

This time, over at DragonsDream Tag It On it's May's turn to choose the recipe and she chose Nature, Time and Orange. The only rules are there must be a stamped image and a tag.

I used Dylusions Inks for the background and a leaf stencil by Wendy Vecchi. The flower, leaves and stem are also from Wendy's Studio 490 range.
There's a large cog beneath the flower to give an extra dimension. The centre of the flower is a wooden clock face and some ideaology. We hope you'll join with us this fortnight!

The 'C' Word in August...

This fortnight's challenge at Crafty Boots was chosen by my wonderful friend Sandra and is Christmas in August... I am so very, very sorry that I said the 'C' word but I had no choice! I have absolutely no inspiration for Christmas particularly as this was made on a day when the temperature was over 30 degrees!!!
I went to my favourite Christmas stamp by PaperArtsy (it's REALLY good value too!) and Tim Holtz stamps and mixed them together!
I hope you'll join in with us this fortnight - if you don't mind the 'C' word of course!!!

Altered Art (Parts!)

Just a quick post today! I wanted a new header for my blog Facebook and Twitter pages and so I took Art Parts, Tissue Wrap, Dylusion Spray Inks, Wendy Vecchi stamps and Idea-Ology. It's a really simple little plaque but it really works as a header - especially now I've worked out how to added watermarks on my mac!

Inspiration for Art

The latest challenge at Everything Wendy Vecchi is to use die cuts. Thanks to my blummin' accident I've been AWOL from my one of my favourite challenges and so it was fabulous to be back!
I had two of Wendy's new stencils (flower and stripes) and a pot of her Translucent Embossing Paste and it seemed a perfect opportunity to use them! I really enjoyed using the paste, especially with the two part flower stencil - it was tricky with one hand but really easy once I'd worked out the logistics! The die was the pedestal from the Bell Jar die with a layer of Crackle Accents on top - it's been ages since I used that! It's nice to be back!

Altered existence

This time, over at DragonsDream Tag It On it's Silvia's turn to choose the recipe and she chose Waste/Rubbish, Male and Chipboard. The only rules are there must be a stamped image and a tag.
I used an Amazon box to make the tag hoping this qualified both for the waste/rubbish and chipboard rules as I didn't have any chipboard! The inks are from the Dylusions range and the stamps are Wendy Vecchi's. A little ideaology finished it off!
I hope you'll join in with us this fortnight!

Be confident

This fortnight's challenge at Crafty Boots was chosen by my wonderful friend Helen and is to include die cuts. You can make anything you like but it must have a die cut on there somewhere!
My die cuts were two butterflies from Tim's Easter Elements die laid one on top of each other with a game spinner in the centre. The bottom butterfly was coloured green (to act as a shadow to the top butterfly coloured with neutral paints. Both were sprayed with green Dylusion inks through an alphabet mask. The stamps were from Wendy Vecchi - on the tickets I masked half the stamp off so it fitted on two!
We hope you join in with us this fortnight!

Quotations

At the Country View Crafts challenge blog this month the theme is "Quotations and Sayings" and I made a page in my journal.
I used Fresh Lime ink for the background and Fresh Lime and White Linen inks through a number stencil. The quotation on the right is taken from a Wendy Vecchi stamp and I used a Dylusions alphabet stamp set to spell it out. On the left is my Su phrenology head stamp that I adore with two Dylusions stamps used to make a headpiece. The quotation on her head is from another Ms Vecchi stamp set. So, if I can make this one handed imagine what you can do with two! We're really looking forward to seeing what you make!
