Twolips

The rather wonderful Silva has chosen this fortnight's theme at DragonsDream Tag It On and it's the number two. I chose to make two tulips from Lin Brown's lovely new stamp set and tie them in a bouquet with a number two stamp by Tim Holtz.
Hope you'll join in with us this fortnight!

Sun...sea...sand

I am really taken with these beach hut stamps from Jo Firth-Young – I’m sure you’re getting fed up with me using them! For my second project for the new Country View Crafts Challenge this month, with the theme of SummertimeI made a little plaque for my bathroom this time.
I started with an mdf blank and added blue and white paint and a little yellow across the bottom with my finger. I added some stencilling in the sky to give it a little interest and then used some of the fabulous new stamps from Emma Godfrey for the sun and a cloud. These were stamped on tissue paper and painted on the reverse.
I stamped the mini beach huts on tissue paper and painted the backs. I then added the repeated sentiment along the bottom. I’m really pleased with my little plaque – it looks fabulous on my wall!
I hope you’ll join in with this month’s challenge – we’d love to see what you make!

Make Art with Wendy Vecchi

On Sunday I had the privilege of taking a class with the one and only Ms Vecchi. It was wonderful to not only meet Wendy but also to meet so many other crafters - I was in some pretty talented company! In case you were wondering - Wendy really is as lovely as you'd imagine!

So the project in pictures...
This was what awaited us! The kit looked pretty exciting!
Stage one - this is gold embossing paste and archival ink

I then added a stencilled detail all over the box. Others used stamps.

Then we added some final details
Tag No 1 - the spoon is the cutest little metal spoon!
Tag No 2 - we were lucky enough to be given the flower stamp and stencil set (SISI) to bring home! Thank you Wendy and Stampers Anonymous!
Tag No 3 - I love the ruler and star - if you find any - grab some, they're now discontinued!
Tag No 4 - This one is full of Wendy's Art Parts!
Wendy's samples were beautiful:

I had a truly wonderful day!

Five

The rather lovely Helen has chosen the number five for this fortnight's theme at DragonsDream Tag It On. There are few rules, just use a tag and at least one stamped image. I chose to repeat a favourite Tim Holtz image - stamping it one white card and then painting afterwards. We hope you'll join in with us this fortnight!

August

August already! This year really is whizzing by! August is a holiday month in our house and I  chose to show that in my journal.
The clouds are from Emma Godfrey's new stamps set and the beach huts are from a set from Jo Firth-Young. I stamped them on tissue paper and painted the reverse. Cute aren't they?
I hope you have a wonderful August, thank you as always for stopping by! If you want to see more then I have grouped my calendar pages this year here and there's a Facebook group full of incredible inspiration with loads of different styles - worth checking out!

Beach Hut

The joy of warmer weather means that summer is here and there’s something special about the UK in the summer! This month’s theme puts me in mind of bucket and spade summer holidays at the beach! Jo Firth-Young’s stamps are just perfectly evocative of these holidays and I have used them a lot this month! For my first project for the new Country View Crafts Challenge this month, with the theme of Summertime, I have made a tag. The beach hut opens up!

I started by brayering the tag with blue paint and then added a layer of white paint. I then stencilled randomly around the tag with blue paint and lightly sanded. This gives a lovely smooth finish for stamping as well as helping to give the finished look of it being a little ‘weathered’. I then stamped a sentiment around the edges and linked them up with a black pen.
I stamped a beach hut on cream card and then, using the remaining ink on the stamp, lightly stamped some more card. I then drew lines across this ‘ghosted’ image joining the lines on the image. I then painted both huts. With the first hut I cut the doors with a craft knife so they would open. I added some stamped, painted images inside and some buckets in a matching ink to the background of tag. I am going to take this tag on holiday with me to use as a postcard and write on the top half!

I hope you’ll join in with this month’s challenge – we’d love to see what you make!
